Hitspot
can be a good way to make new friends. You can let them know what you think, blog to your heart's content, post photos that you choose to share, and much, much more. But this freedom to connect comes with a need for caution. Remember that what you post publicly can embarrass you or expose you to danger. Be careful!

When enjoying Hitspot use common sense and follow a few guidelines:

People aren't necessarily who they say they are. One of the real dangers of using the Internet and participating in personal forums is that dishonest and dangerous people can hide their identities. While it is fun to connect with Hitspot friends from all over the world, you should take care when adding new friends to your network. If you have to meet someone in person, meet in a public place and ask a friend to come along. Avoid meeting people in person unless you know them well.

If you mislead people about your age, you could lose Hitspot privileges. Customer service at Hitspot will delete your profile if you are under 14 and pretend to be older. If you are over 18 and pretend to be a teenager to contact underage users, your profile will also be removed.

Don't post anything that would embarrass you. Before you post a photo or any information, make sure that you wouldn't mind your parents or employer seeing it!

Your profile and Hitspot forums are there for the public to see. The bottom line is: Don't post anything you wouldn't want the world to know. For example, you should think carefully before you share your location, address, phone number or other personal information. Do not post anything that would make it easy for a stranger to find you. You should never tell a stranger about your favorite place to meet with friends after school or in the evening!

Don't tolerate harassment, hate speech and inappropriate content. If you feel someone's behavior is not appropriate for Hitspot, report the problem to Hitspot, or local law enforcement officials.

Don’t get caught in an expensive or dangerous scam.  Some people refer to dishonest gathering of information as phishing. This tactic is used by dishonest people to try to get your personal information (such as your username and password). They pretend to work for a trustworthy company or Web site so that you will give them the information they want. Always be wary of people asking for usernanes, passwords, and other sensitive information.
